We produce vinyl windows, vinyl and composite siding and accessories, and metal building products--and distribute other essential building products to ensure customers find everything they need for their exterior.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working in our manufacturing plant, our Production Control Operator is vital to the success of our business. Your role will be to ensure our products maintain the highest level of quality our customers expect. At Associated Materials, we believe excellent results begin with you!

This role plays a key part in keeping operations running smoothly by tracking open orders, ensuring materials are available, and working cross-functionally to resolve any delays or issues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor open orders and production status throughout the day.
  • Run and interpret daily reports to identify potential delays or material shortages.
  • Partner with production, materials, quality, and shipping teams to keep orders on track.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to missing materials, glass, or damaged/idle product.
  • Respond to escalations from customer service and provide timely, accurate updates.
  • Use tools like Excel and Outlook to stay organized and maintain clear communication.
  • Spend the majority of your day on the production floor, coordinating efforts in real-time.
  • Use, understand, and thoroughly read a tape measure
  • Perform all other duties assigned

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in an assembly-line or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must have good hand /eye coordination and gripping strength
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Must be able to use, understand, and thoroughly read a tape measure
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16thof an inch
  • Ability to read and comprehend English language
  • Be flexible and willing to learn, including cross-training and developing in other areas in the plant
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional roles.
  • Able to balance time between desk work and walking the floor (70/30 split)

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical fitness to include movements, positioning, remaining stationary which include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
  • Able to lift-up to 75 lbs. at any given time.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Work in different temperature-controlled environments.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
