Manufacturing Engineer

Optiforms, located in Temecula, CA is a leading manufacturer of custom metal components and enhanced surface finishes for high precision applications. We specialize in electroformed and CNC machined components, as well as electrodeposited plating's and vacuum deposition coatings. We serve various industries such as aerospace and defense, medical, UV and semiconductor, searchlights and industrial. We are currently seeking an EDM Machinist to join our team!

The EDM Operator is responsible for setting up and operating sinker electrical discharge machines (EDM) that produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role ensures quality, accuracy, and efficiency in a high-precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate EDM machines (sinker) to manufacture precision components.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, CAD files, and technical drawings.
• Set up fixtures, tooling, and electrodes as required for each job.
• Monitor the machining process, adjust parameters, and inspect parts to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance on EDM equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and machine shop personnel to optimize machining strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including job travelers and inspection reports.
• Ensure safe operation of all equipment and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Marginal Duties:

· Basic machine maintenance as necessary (i.e. checking air pressure, re-filling way lube).

· Wipe down machinery.

· Sweep and/or mop shop floors.

· Empty trash cans.

· Organize work areas.

· Prepare materials for upcoming projects (cutting raw stock, lapping work pieces, etc.).

· Assist in any other area as needed.

Education/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in machining preferred.
• 2+ years of experience operating EDM machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with sinker EDM machines (e.g., Mitsubishi, Cincinnati Milacron).
• Strong understanding of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machining principles is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

· Machine shop trade school a plus, but not necessary.
