Job Title : Maintenance/Mechanic

SUMMARY

The Maintenance/Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various systems and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

(Includes the following and other duties may be assigned.)

  • Reads, understands, and troubleshoots electrical circuits.
  • Performs annual DOT inspections on assigned vehicles. 
  • Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic devices and hydraulic systems.
  • Conducts scheduled service and performs preventive maintenance.
  • Installs and rebuilds equipment.
  • Reads and understands manuals to perform required service.
  • Promotes company and employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services.
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
  • Adherence to safety policies and providing safety leadership. 
  • Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork.
  • Possessing excellent organizational skills, attentive to detail and accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping of work area.
  • Secures facilities and equipment when closing.
  • Promptly and regularly reporting to work and work overtime hours as needed.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance.
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Computer skills required. Ability to navigate and successfully use internet browsers, email, and a variety of other software programs required to complete daily business functions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Haz-Mat Endorsement, Air Brake Endorsement, Tanker Endorsement.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid condition; extreme cold and extreme heat; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in this work environment usually loud (although not believed to exceed the eight-hour threshold for working in or around loud equipment).  Employee must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.
