Job Title : Machinist - 2nd Shift (Cary, IL, US, 60013)

2nd Shift Hours: 4:20pm - 12:30am, M-F

 As a Machinist with Aptar you will:

  • Operate manual tool room equipment
  • Perform custom and repair machining of plant related equipment (builds/rebuilds machinery) as a support to the Manufacturing department
  • Troubleshoot high speed assembly equipment, and produce spare parts for assembly equipment
  • Produce clear/accurate sketches, must be able to read mechanical blueprints
  • Perform calibrations, must be able to machine parts to close tolerances (+/-.0005) using conventional tool room equipment (mill, drill press, chop saw, lathe, push and pull broaches, surface grinder, etc.)
  • Cut, shape and fabricate tools
  • Regularly clean and maintain machinery
  • Must be familiar with machining ferrous, non-ferrous and synthetic materials and alloys
  • Must have general machinist hand tools (micrometers, calipers, indicator, edge-finder, square, scale, wrenches, screwdrivers, mallet, hammer, etc and locking toolbox)

What you bring on the journey:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Must be capable of performing trigonometric functions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally during shift
  • Meet quality standards
  • CNC set up/programming /CNC mill/lathe operation and/or set up experience a plus
  • Mastercam/Solidworks experience a plus
  • Tig welding and brazing experience a plus
