Job Title : Machine Operator Nights

WHAT WE NEEDThe Machine Operator II is vital to the success of our production function. A successful individual will have basic mechanical aptitude, desire to learn, ability to follow clearly written instructions, and willingness to grow and develop in the manufacturing field.  Strong communication skills and team player attitude is a must.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Operate machinery, to include machine set-up, operation, change overs, and troubleshooting, to detect product (raw or finished) defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Maintain GMP (good housekeeping) standards at and around machinery. 
  • Cross training or training on equipment as defined by manager. 
  • Perform SOP’s for machinery in assigned area. 
  • Work in a safe manner, consistent with company safety rules and regulations. 
  • Maintain good attendance record per company policy.
  • Maintain and record accurate documentation.
  • Maintain and issue raw materials into assigned work orders. 
  • Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.  

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFULTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Required Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Proficient in operating three (3) or more production machines or 3-5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (including operation, set-ups, changeovers and troubleshooting of multiple machines). 
  • Previous experience operating a forklift (for applicable work areas).
  • Lock out/tag out certified preferred at hire but will provide training during orientation.

Preferred Education/Experience: 

  • Forklift License preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (bump cap, hair net, ear plugs, beard net (if applicable), Kevlar gloves, safety glasses and leather, skid resistant work shoes/boots; 
  • Ability to apply basic computer and communication skills, math functions and reasoning; 
  • Ability to use various hand tools (knife, water house, band cutters, can opener, scales Telnet scanners, various hand tolls, as required for position/product testing); 
  • A continuous learning, and improvement, mindset is a must; there are many opportunities to learn and develop at BRF, but the individual needs to be motivated to engage in those opportunities. 
  • Effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Willingness to offer suggestions on ways to improve assigned work.
  • Ability to follow and implement written or oral instructions.
  • Team player and constructive conflict management are key skills for success.
  • Punctuality is a must.
  • Motivated to do your best work each day.
  • English fluency required to successfully speak, read, write, and comprehend and give directions in English and communicate with other employees in English as part of regular job duties. 
  • Constant exposure to extreme loud noises; high places and near moving mechanical parts; standing and moving by foot; extreme hot/cold (non-weather) environment; 
  • Frequent lifting/carrying 50 pounds. 

At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. The base pay for this role is $19.67/hr. with a $1.50/hr. shift differential for night shift.
